SYSTEM FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Nexus gateway, security, and usage.

How do I verify the Nexus Market URL?

Always use the PGP signed message found on the official verify page. Never trust links from clearnet wikis or chat without verifying the signature against the published admin key.

Is Monero (XMR) mandatory?

BTC and LTC are accepted, but XMR is strongly recommended for OPSEC. Vendors may offer discounts for XMR. See the finance section for private use guides.

What is the dispute resolution time?

Standard dispute window is 24–72 hours depending on vendor tier. High-value disputes may have an extended mediation window.

How do I access Nexus Darknet safely?

Use Tails OS or Tor Browser with Safest settings, disable JavaScript when possible, and never mix identities between clearnet and darknet. Read the opsec_protocols page in full.

What is multisig escrow?

2-of-3 multisignature escrow: buyer, vendor, and platform each hold a key. Funds release only when two parties sign. This prevents single-point exit scams.

Why does the site work without JavaScript?

To reduce attack surface (e.g. XSS) and support users who browse with JavaScript disabled in Tor Browser for maximum security.

What is the warrant canary?

A bi-weekly PGP-signed message stating that the platform has not been compromised or served with a secret order. If it stops or changes, do not use the site until clarified.

How do I get the correct onion mirror links?

Only from a PGP-signed message that you verify with the official public key. Use the initialize_session page after verifying the signed source; never trust unsigned lists.

Can I use a VPN with Tor?

Tor alone is sufficient for most users. If you use a VPN, understand the order (Tor over VPN vs VPN over Tor) and threat model. Avoid logging VPNs.

What is vendor bonding?

Vendors lock a bond in XMR. If they exit-scam or break rules, the bond can be slashed. Higher bonds allow more listings and improve trust.

How are messages encrypted?

All messages and tickets are encrypted with PGP by default. Encryption is client-side; the server does not have access to plaintext.

What is an auto-shop?

Digital goods can be delivered automatically after payment (e.g. download link or code). No manual vendor action required; reduces delay and human error.

How do I avoid phishing sites?

Only use URLs from PGP-signed mirror lists. Never enter PIN or 2FA in response to chat or unsolicited requests. Read the anti_phishing page.

Does the site support Bitcoin?

Yes. BTC is accepted but has a public ledger; use the finance/btc guide for more private use (CoinJoin, separate wallet). XMR is recommended.

What if I forget my password?

There is no central password reset that preserves security. Use a local password manager and secure backups. Never reuse passwords from other sites.

Is 2FA required?

For buyers it is recommended. For vendors it may be required. Use TOTP (e.g. authenticator app); store backup codes offline and never share them.

Where can I read Nexus news and updates?

The intel_feed page lists the latest Nexus news and mirror updates. Each item has a dedicated page with publication date (intelMMDDYY).

What is the recommended toolkit for OPSEC?

Tails OS, Tor Browser, KeePassXC, Kleopatra (or GnuPG), and Monero GUI with local node. See opsec_protocols for the full list and critical red flags.
